WEAK TEA

I think the most hysterical thing about this comment thread is that people are calling Rick Moran a "RINO."

SHOULD PRESIDENT TAYLOR INVOKE THE 25TH AMENDMENT?

It almost seems to have as part of the theme to show what a truly incompetent POTUS looks like.

Whether this was the writer's intent or not, I think you're absolutely correct.

I don't know if this is a function of the way the character was written, or Cherry Jones' acting (honestly, I have never seen her in anything prior to this so I'm not going to put the blame entirely on her), but she really, truly sucks as President.

And there's been nothing about the show that has made me wonder why she is right to risk American lives and American soldiers on some country in Africa.

soccer dad,

I expect that the real mole will use Sean's dumb move reg'd the plane to point the blame toward him while they cover their tracks.

My guess is that there are two moles in the FBI --- Janis and the blond girl.

In DC, the law forbids anything but hands-free cell phone usage. Jack should be fined.

In Hour 13, we will find that the terrorists plans will succeed because Jack will be forced to spend the next 11 hours in line at D.C. Superior Court trying to pay a traffic ticket ;)

sara in va,

Yeah # 2 seems like an excellent point.

Taylor seems to have shrugged off the fact that at least two Secret Service agents on the First Family's detail are working for a foreign government, which just reinforces my opinion of that her character is one of the worst Chief Executive characters we've seen in 24.

I'm really beginning to think that this show has taken that Cadillac that Jack car-jacked and driven it over an entire pool filled with sharks. There's a rumored spoiler about something that is supposed to happen in about 4-5 episodes that would seem to confirm it. I won't repeat it, but if it happens I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch the reason of the season without laughing.

I wish they would've at least talked about the 25th Amendment, especially given the botched, and ultimately incorrect, way that they handled it in Season Two when David Palmer was temporarily forced out of power.

Ironically, at the same time that 24 was botching the 25th Amendment back then, The West Wing actually handled it pretty well with the whole plot around Zoey Bartlett's kidnapping and the temporary reign of President John Goodman.

And, no, we have not met Taylor's Vice-President yet. Remember, though, that in the 24 universe Vice-Presidents are either untrustworthy (Jim Prescott, Hal Gardner and Noah Daniels) or corrupt (Charles Logan).

WHEN WILL TONY FLIP?

headhunt,

In Season One, David Palmer was running in the California Democratic Primary.

But I agree that political analysis doesn't really make sense here. After all, the whole Keeler to Logan to Gardner transition (where we're supposed to believe that America had three Presidents over the course of 4 years) is something that has never happened in American history and likely never will

On the Walker thing, are we supposed to believe that Bill/Chloe still had Jack wired when she was shot ? There wasn't that much on-screen evidence of that, but I guess it's possible.

It's also worth noting that, right now, we're still watching shows that were written and filmed before last year's writers strike. As I understand it, the "new" post-strike content starts with Episode 9.

Okay, here's what ruined the episode for me (in addition to the disaster that is President Allison Taylor):

At the very beginning when Bill and Chloe rescue Agent Walker, they say that Jack told them where to find her.

When did that happen ? We certainly didn't see Jack do it on screen, and it's hard to believe that he would have been able to call Bill or Chloe while sitting in a delivery truck with Emerson and his goons.

Before they left "CTU East" as I call their hideout in Washington, Chloe affixed a listening device to Jack.

But that still doesn't explain how they knew exactly where to go to find Renee.

Neo,

Rumor has it that Logan is still alive in the 24 universe (Renee Walker said as much in the season premier when she said he was still living at his ranch)

Maryhunter,

No, Daniels was Wayne Palmer's VP. He took over after Wayne was incapacitated during a fairly implausible terrorist attack inside the White House itself. Then, he took over again after Wayne's recover proved short-lived. Palmer was never shown as dying on screen, but the fact that Daniels was President when Taylor took over would indicate than he never did.

Charles Logan's Vice-President was Hal Gardner who took over at the end of Season 5 when Logan was arrested.

We know Logan was a Republican because he was VP to John Keeler, who ran against, and apparently defeated, David Palmer after the end of Season 2.

David Palmer was a Democrat and, presumably, Wayne, who served as his Chief of Staff for a time, was as well.

That means Daniels was a Democrat and Taylor is a Republican.
